Leviathan - UT3 Total Conversion Team Project (WIP)
Project Highlights:
- Worked extensively in Unreal Kismet, Matinee, Material Editor, and Cascade to design and create each of the game's special effects, as well as dynamic and adaptive in-game materials.- Designed and implemented the game's building-consuming "wow" moments.
- Designed, Scripted, and added level-advancing Matinee to the game's introductory level.
Team Roles
- Effects Artist, Matinee Artist, Level DesignerDescription:
(Please note this game is a Work In Progress, currently at the Vertical Slice Milestone)Leviathan takes the traditional 2D vertically scrolling shooter, adds a 3rd dimension, then turns it on its head. Players are thrust into the ranks of a nameless alien force invading and consuming the earth. As a single drone in the unending swarm, the player must support and protect the city-sized mothership that created him - his Leviathan - as it tears a swath of destruction across the planet, consuming everything in its path.
Icarus City - UT3 Proof of Concept
Project Highlights
- Created a large cityscape map to prove the viability of UT3 to develop dense, futuristic cityscapes.- Designed, constructed, populated, and detailed map in 3 days.
Description
This project was completed as a prototype for the game that would become Leviathan. The objective was to prove that UT3 could be used to create a vast cityscape with minimal development time and retain a sustainable framerate.I assembled Icarus City over the course of one weekend and populated it with nearly 4000 static meshes, 120 dynamic lights, and pathed over 100 "hovercar" actors through its streets. In order to optimize this project (and do so in a subtle manner), I made calculated use of fog volumes, culling volumes, and post process effects - all of which combined to keep the framerate at the max 60fps.
DM17 - UT3 Multiplayer Map
Project Highlights
- Recreated the classic DM17 within UT3- Made calculated use of lighting, materials, and particle effects to simulate a playspace traveling through hyperspace.
